New Fuel pump

Where do I put this spare bolt? Good old technical help and advice from those in the know?

New Fuel pump

Postby Porsche917 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 6:17 pm

Hi
I'm probably going to feel foolish when I get the answer on this but here goes....I need to buy a replacement fuel pump (so I can give Steve his spare back). Am looking in all the usual places (eBay etc) and they all say the pump is for a 2.5S model - not our more humble 2.0 engine. Now, I'm thinking bigger engine - better pump, more juice, less trouble....BUT am I being FICK 'ere? The pump looks the same but will it deliver too much fuel if fitted?
Thanks.
Cheers
Geoff
Oh, does anyone have a secret favourite place to buy pumps cheap??

Hi Geoff
Well,I guess that the 924s 2.5l engine fuel pump wont supply enough pressure for the 2.0l engine, but I'll have to check at work tomorrow.
Anyway, if you want the correct one, ring me on 01276 31914 (bus hrs 9am till 6pm).

Most Porsche/Bosch fuel pumps from this era are the same or at least interchangeable. 911SC/3.2, 924S/Turbo, 944 etc are all suitable. The fuel pressure in the system isn't determined by the pump - systems have a fuel pressure regulator built-in. New pumps are pretty expensive, lots of good used ones around if you want to save a few quid!
