A bit disappointed to qualify 14th as the car felt quite good, but was pleased when I found out there was only a second between 7th and 14th! I was even more pleased when James told me that I was three seconds quicker in qualifying than the last visit to Mallory. In the race I made my best start ever but backed off after becoming the meat in the sandwich of Steve Cheetham and Steve King. Had a great battle with Andy Walley, and a recovering Carlo Bonetti, with a bit of paint swapping along the way for the rest of the race. Nearly hit the wall under braking for the hairpin when being lapped by Gary Duckman and Martin Todd, which allowed Carlo through. Spent the rest of the race trying to get past Carlo, but couldn’t manage as I was too slow at the esses. All in all, I had a really good race, and whilst 12th is hardly startling, I’m certainly feel I’m getting quicker and my enthusiasm is starting to return.
