New Man Niz Makes Immediate Impression

We're only one round into the 2014 season and new boy Nizar El-Chamaa has already made a big impression with two third-place finished from two races and sits joint-second in the 924 Championship table - having never raced before.

"From a very early age," Niz says "I've always had an interest in Motorsport and generally going fast. But always being on the sidelines looking on, doing the odd go-kart session here and there, did not quite fill the burning ambition of becoming a racing driver in my own right. A trip to the Nurburgring last year and a few laps of the Nordschleife made me realise that I was getting to a stage where it would be now or never. And a few months later, here I am."

Niz works as an IT Consultant for Dell with 15 years experience in the industry - hardly an area you'd expect could produce race driver material.

Regarding his car, he continues "my car was previously owned by Andy Burrows who raced it in the 2012 season and then sat for a couple of seasons doing nothing. I acquired the car in late January 2014 and set about getting it back into racing shape. This particular 924 was one of six originally built in Ireland where it had literally thousands of pounds spent on it including fitting a Stack system, Leda suspension and fibreglass panels."

The purple 924 car is being looked after by the legendary Fudge at Victoria Garage (http://www.victoriagarageltd.co.uk/) who recommended a power upgrade - so a Vernier pulley and Piper camshaft were installed. The exhaust needed replacing so a brand new exhaust by Advanced Automotive Systems (http://www.aas-exhausts.co.uk/) was fitted. All this topped off with a lovely new paint job by Dido and a nice new set of Compomotive CXR wheels by Tony from Tyres South Shore.

His main sponsors this year will be Film Band (http://www.film-band.co.uk), a company that specialise in providing Film, Audio/Video services and equipment to suit all your needs whether you're a budding film-maker or on a multi-million film-set.
