Rockingham Race Preview

Lights! Camera! Action....!

The BRSCC Porsche Championship is going to be on TV! Our upcoming races at Rockingham on August Bank Holiday weekend will be filmed for broadcast by MOTORS TV, featuring highlights of qualifying, both races and interviews with the drivers.

Taking place on Sunday 29th – Monday 30th August, this is one race meeting that is definitely not to be missed! We are expecting our biggest grid of the year so far, so look out for slick new haircuts, polished helmets, ‘trophy’ girlfriends and shades permanently fixed to the driver’s heads, as everyone tries to emulate the F1 stars for the camera! The racing should make for great viewing at the track famed for its American style oval layout with high banked corners.....with the added challenge of the twisty infield section giving the drivers plenty to think about.

Dave Clark has well and truly established himself as the man to beat in the Porsche Boxsters, with 6 wins out of the eight races he’s contested. But Richard Sykes and Gerry Taylor in particular are giving him plenty to think about, whilst Sean Cooper is becoming a regular podium finisher, and early season pacesetters Nick Hull and Dave Hughes cannot be ruled out either. We are also delighted to welcome two new entrants to the Boxster field, ex-924 peddler Matt Upchurch and Mick Fellar.

At the top of the Porsche 924 Championship, it is still a 4-way battle between Alistair Kirkham, Andrew Hannington, Steve Brown and Adam Croft, and with dropped scores starting to come into play, every points finish will be crucial from now on. With new boy and Mallory winner Richard Styrin in the mix, and the two Flegg Transport cars of Jayson Flegg and Mark Marshall back on song, finishing on the podium is anything but a foregone conclusion at this stage in the season.

We’d love as many people as possible to come along and join in the fun at this TELEVISED event on August Bank Holiday, and see what a fantastic series the Porsche Championship is developing into.
