Croft Race Preview - September 2012

Croft Race Preview - 8th / 9th September 2012

This weekend, 8th & 9th of September, sees the penultimate round of the BRSCC LOGSON GROUP PORSCHE CHAMPIONSHIP at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.

At our last meeting at Rockingham it was the TF Boxster Boys, Gerry Taylor and Rick Styrin who shared the winning honours. In the Production Class Steve Brown took the Tata Technologies car to two solid wins ahead of Steve Potts. The venerable 924's continued to entertain with a win a piece to Simon Hawksley and Sean Siddall, whilst Alastair Kirkham reinforced his position at the head of the Championship table with two solid thirds.

Who do we need to watch for this weekend? The fast long straights at Croft should favour the 987 Boxster with its small power advantage so watch for on form man Steve Boyles in the all black car…but rest assured that the trio of Styrin, Taylor and Bearman will be climbing all over him at every opportunity. Watch out also for 'local' drivers Nick Hull and Adam Croft; both drivers have been posting some solid results recently and will be anxious to impress in front of their home crowd, especially after Adam’s unfortunate engine failure at Rockingham. Cliff Graham has been an impressive newcomer to the Boxster class, and there will be another new boy at Croft, Will Sharpe, who is joining us off the back of several years of successful MG racing.

Steve Brown will be fending off the attentions of Steve Potts again in the Production Class, but it’s Potts who’s in the driving seat for the class Championship.

In the 924 Class, 'Fudge' and Eddie, the proprietors of the local Victoria Garage, will have their work cut out servicing their regular cars and anyone else who gets into trouble on the 924 grid. Simon Hawksley will be making the long trip down from Dundee this weekend; currently lying third in the 924 Championship he has his sights firmly set on 1st or 2nd place. Messrs Siddall and Kirkham will be joined up front by Marc Mackenzie and Rebecca Jackson, the latter having a Rockingham to forget, whilst we are pleased to welcome back local girl Lynda Warren to the 924 fold!

All the ingredients are there to make for another entertaining weekend in our Championship! Thanks to Steve Gibson and the Darlington Motor Club for giving us the opportunity to compete this weekend at Croft Circuit.

We hope to see you there!
