At our traditional annual awards dinner, held at The Links Hotel, Cromer, Norfolk, our championship winners from the 2016 season were recently awarded their trophies. Hosted by PDA chairman Nick Hull, with introductions of long-time friend of the championship and head of Downforce Radio, Jake Sanson, over 60 drivers, mechanics and media personel and their families applauded their success.
Making history at the top of Class A was Rick Styrin, who last year became the first driver to take three Class A Boxster titles. Richard Avery and Garry Lawrence were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Newcomer Andy Baker took the Class B Boxster crown after six faultless finishes.
And Linda Warren - only the second female to win a PDA title - took the Class C 924 win. John Broadley - who has retired from racing to pick up the official coordinator role for this season - and Hugh Peart took 2nd and 3rd.
Nick thanked all of our sponsors, whose contributions have powered us along for another great season, including Toyo Tires, Jasmine Porshalink, Wharfside Electrical, Fine Drinks Cooperative, Hartech and Royal Purple. We are also grateful for our collaborations with Tyres (South Shore) Ltd, Mintex, Custom Cages and Gaz Shocks.
It's hard to believe that there's a cost effective Porsche racing series - but this successful championship really is!
