Penultimate Rounds Fast Approaching

The third driver to join our ranks from Classic Stock Hatch, #11 Ryan Lowry landed a pair of first place 924 Class trophies with wins in two of our three races at Donington Park last month. In the Boxsters, Alex Stocker, Andy Hack, Angus Archer and Ed Hayes all returned to our ranks having missed rounds, along with Gerrards Cross-based Garry Goodwin, who put in personal best performances.

Rick Styrin demonstrated his mastery of wet conditions by heading the Saturday qualifying field with Ed Hayes and Richard Avery in tow, but technical problems dogged the Leeds driver and the current Boxster Championship leader suffered his worst weekend of the year with a 7th and two DNFs. Andy Hack guided his yellow 986 to his first ever rear-wheel-drive race win as the light was fading, while Richard Avery was able to take advantage of Styrin's misfortunes with two wins.

#24 Jamie Callender performed admirably in Class C - grabbing his first ever Porsche 924s pole; Philip Waters, Adam Croft and David Jones also made excellent showings. PDA long-termer John Broadley landed his first win in Race 3 and in doing so closed to 26 points off Linda Warren's lead.

Next weekend's races will provide the drivers, many unfamiliar with the Mallory Circuit, with a considerable challenge. As we go into these rounds, neither Class championship is sewn up. Will drivers take risks to close the gap to their rivals, or play it safe in the hunt for finishes. We shall see!
