The Big 924 Race

Postby fontwell1 » Sat Jun 24, 2017 11:27 am

Hi Peeps,

Just wanted to give you an update re the Big 924 Race at Donington Park.

There are now just over three months until the race so things are starting to become more interesting!

Remember, this is a one off, not for profit race so the race fee of £285 is great value for a double header at one of our favourite circuits.

We now need all of you who want to have a place on the grid to send your entries in online and to pay your deposit of £85 asap. This will help us to bring in more sponsors to help reduce the race entry fee even further.

Prizes and mementos will be given to all competitors taking part in this one off event. Several past champions are competing so this will be a unique experience for us all. There will be winner and runners up prizes as usual for each race plus a special prize for the aggregate winner and runners up of the weekend.

Please spread the word especially to those who do not have a car but want to compete as there are drives available in cars whose owners can't make the date.

Let me know if you want a car and I can 'love match' you with the relevant suitor!

See you at Castle Coombe or message me if you want more details

We're also working on magazine articles and a film of the event too.....so let's have a great big grid of cars and make it special.
Feeling the 924 love :D

Any chance that there could be an Invitation Class for those with non PDA conforming cars?

I know of a couple of HSCC 70s Roadsports spec cars and I have a 924S that I have raced in CSCC in the past, and I would certainly be interested.

The 924S probably has a similar power to weight ratio as the PDA cars and a review of my lap times compared to PDA cars puts me in the middle oe lower half of the grid, so no chance of upsetting the apple cart!!!

If there is a possibility, what would membership requirements be and how could I enter.

Cheers

Andy

Philip will confirm but I'm pretty sure there is an invitation class.

Cheers Chris, I have now found out some of the info via the 924 Owners Club forum so I hope to enter.

Thanks

Hi Andy,

You will be most welcome to join in, as long as the power to weight ratio is 143BHP to 1000kgs and you don't run slicks then all well and good.

I plan to have a good chat with everyone at Castle Combe so hope to see you there.

Cheers

Philipo

I forgot to say that the 750 MC have waived their membership requirements for this race...so nothing extra to pay over the £285 race entry fee.

Just been contacted by a chap called Andy Prill that has the race car that won the first years championship, which is still in its original livery, and he's offered to bring it along to exhibit.
