Silvestone Gravel

My short lived race 2. Gutted as I had a lot of pace. Not quite sure why my brain didn't just make me follow Ed through the gravel trap, avoiding Andy's stranded car (really sorry about that Andy).

Re: Interesting cheap 2.7 race Boxster

Not unless you change the regs to allow that sort to swap.

I recall some mentions of original type etc for engine and gearbox?

Re: Motorsport AOS (Boxster)

Have done nothing TBH, and haven't suffered. Have the early car so not sure if that makes a difference. no deep sump no motorsport aos - was going to when I changed it but its only for later cars 2002/3+ We tend to keep the oil pretty near the full. I only recall two cars doing this intermittently i...

Wheel protector spray

I've been using this for a few weeks on my road car. --> http://www.autoglym.com/products/products/wheel-protector Am pretty amazed at how it had stopped brake dust and dirt sticking to the wheels. They look newly washed even after a month. Going to use it on the race wheels, and expect to save a lo...

Re: The million dollar question

Ben. If you have 10k you have options on a 987 or straight into prod spec. On a 986 it woul be wasted. A 5-7k car with 60-90k car is prob the sweet spot. Something with a horrible interior or color pcmbination no one wants. Choice of 2001-2 or 2003-4 is models is important. The latter has more power...

Re: Front Suspension plastic bearing

So I'll answer my own question... You can't refit the bearing as the spring diameter is different on the Gaz. I'm left with the metal top hat of the Gaz shock rubbing on the bottom metal of the triangular top mount which is noisy / squeals esp when hot. To reduce this I've added high temp grease and...

Re: Another Porsche breakers

I like the comment on why cars have crashed. "Unbranded Ditch-finder tyres".
I'm in the latter camp of "bald but n rated" equally useless this time of year.
Gotta get your monies worth though.

Bargain 986?

I spotted this.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... ar/2996508

Needs some work to bring back into regulations. i.e. CAT's back on, ECU reset and some tyres.

Front Suspension plastic bearing

Have people kept these or thrown them out? Its two black plastic plates sandwiched together with ball-bearings and grease in the middle. Mine fell apart when I originally built it, so I threw them out. But now I get a squealing when turning the steering at low speed when hot. No. 11 on the attached ...
